Photo: Dragons In Vientiane, Laos

Twin dragons top a pagoda at a Chinese Buddhist shrine at the riverfront in Vientiane, Laos.

Short one tonight: this is from the heart of Vientiane, Laos. Being home to the nation’s capital, this city holds many charms, like sunset drinks along the banks of the Mekong River, fine French meals for $7-$15 USD a plate, and many ornately designed temples, both from the Theravada and Chinese Buddhist schools of thought.

The dragons depicted above come from the latter sect … along with these guys, you can find many different accents to Chinese temples, as compared to their Thai/Lao-influenced compatriots. If you’re big into these places of worship, Vientiane will keep you busy for several days…!
