In Motion: Local Children Frolicking In The Water — Ochheuteal Beach, Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Trying to shake my cold that had dogged me since Siem Reap, I set out to wander along the silky, yellow sands of Ochheuteal Beach. Soaking in the strong, but therapeutic Cambodian sun, I happened upon a heart-warming sight.

Scores of local kids playing in the surf of one of Sihanoukville’s most premier beaches. In some places, they would be shooed away from the shore, to allow the barangs (Khmer word for “foreigner”) to enjoy the sublime environment to themselves.

But here, in this Cambodian coastal town, things are still quite laid back, so I was fortunate enough to be treated to this authentic scene of local kids … just being kids!
